Lia May-Byrd was born in Berlin, Germany in the sixties. She
spent 3 years in India as a teen, which greatly influenced her out-look on life as well as her artistic pallet. Lia traveled and lived all over the world until 1990, when she became enchanted with the Bay Area. She is happily married and has an 18 year old son, Max, who’s also an artist. She lives, loves and works in beautiful Petaluma,California.

I am conscious of the impact we have on this earth and delight in creating on reused/recycled materials, be it cardboard, a candy box, a piece of old wood or a sardine can. I get excited by the potential art material when I spot a dumpster or a recycle bin.
Having said that, I must add that many of my larger paintings are Acrylic on loose canvas and I get drunk on the rare luxury of a fresh roll of primed linen.
